I joined Barklav in late 2014 as Operations Manager, coming from the Crewing sector with a 9 years’ experience in the field, working previously for Maersk Logistics, Maersk Crewing and Candina Group.

I have a degree from Naval Academy (2001) and 4 years’ sea-going experience on tankers.

I started working in Barklav in October 2001 and during this time I have gained a lot of experience.

Since 1995, I am certified as “Expert Accountant” and member of CECCAR All the challenges helped me to improve my knowledge in accounting and a little bit on employee’s international tax matters.

It is motivating to be involved in such work environment and make me to be very proactive and dedicated.

I graduated in 2009 as Valedictorian the Naval Academy ‘’Mircea cel Batran’’ in Constanta, Romania, followed by a Master degree in Engineering and Port Management (2011). I started my professional experience as assistant project manager in a shipbuilding company in Netherlands and Germany, I continued as a crew claims handler at a P&I correspondent (where, among other claims, I also handled the Bareli case) and as crewing and training officer in another Ship Management company.

Upon a job advertisement and interviews, I succeeded being part of Klaveness Ship Management in April 2013 as the Training and Development Coordinator (TDC), my activity being mainly based in Barklav office, Constanta, Romania. Since in Klaveness we believe that before being able to train and develop others you need to get trained and to be prepared for the upcoming challenges, I went through a thorough familiarization process in Oslo office where I had the opportunity to learn and understand the way KSM is working towards ‘’Improving the nature of shipping.’’

In June 2013, the continuation of my training journey got me to Manila, Philippines where I met my colleagues in KMA office, I attended the Man Power Development Program graduation of our deck/engine hands and I took part at the Crisis Management Seminar.

Next, I attended the Klaveness Management Training Program (KMTP) in Subic Bay along with colleagues from Oslo and Manila office and 8 senior officers, where we challenged established thinking in order to run ‘’safe & happy ships’’, an experience that I found to be enriching and helpful in getting a better understanding of the challenges faced onboard.

My second visit to Manila, in the fall, led me to the speaker/trainer role at the Junior officer’s, ratings and cadet seminar, where a series of topics were presented in order to ensure all our seafarers have a common understanding of Klaveness policies, procedures and future goals.

All these opportunities helped me knowing our business in detail, get better acquainted with the organization, colleagues, seafarers, external parties, training methods and ways of working together, expressing our concerns, addressing problems and seeking lasting solutions.

Looking forward to new challenges that may arise, knowing that anytime I may need support, in Klaveness and Barklav is always a friendly colleague willing to land you a hand or give you advice.
