Hi! I am Laurentiu-Adrian and since 2000 when I was chosen to look after Barklav’s biz as General Manager, my life has positively changed after 10 years of seafaring career onboard bulk carriers and tanker vessels.

My family until then represented by my wife and the two children was then rounded by the third “child” named Barklav.
From the very beginning, I made a personal oath to dedicate my full capacity and tirelessly work to raise Barklav as a sustainable biz where People have a central place - “a biz for People”!
2003 was another special year for me, when I was entrusted by the Norwegian government as honorary Consul in Constanta and the neighborhood counties.

Further, all these years, I spent no efforts to ensure transfer experience from Norway to Romania trying to secure a positive working climate for people forming Barklav environment and establish a social responsibility program as a return to the society which helped us to develop.

2013 marked my 10th anniversary as a honorary Consul, when H.M. King Harald, through H.E. Oystein Hovdkinn, Ambassador of Norway in Romania appointed me, Officer of his Order of Merit (First Degree) as a recognition of great contribution to furthering Norwegian interests
in my area if responsibility;

As competence is considered a critical success factor in our organization, in 2004 I have graduated the WW Academy – Global Leadership Development Program module I in Oslo-Norway and module II in Boston-USA. In 2015 I was enrolled with the Middlesex University in London for
the MBA courses in Shipping and Logistic, successfully graduated in 2017 with the MERIT degree.

2018 is special, as my third “child” is celebrating the “maturity” and have to prove that all accumulated experience during these years will ensure a bright future in a challenging world!

I joined Barklav in late 2014 as Operations Manager, coming from the Crewing sector with a 9 years’ experience in the field, working previously for Maersk Logistics, Maersk Crewing and Candina Group.

I have a degree from Naval Academy (2001) and 4 years’ sea-going experience on tankers.

I graduated in 2009 as Valedictorian the Naval Academy ‘’Mircea cel Batran’’ in Constanta, Romania, followed by a Master degree in Engineering and Port Management (2011). I started my professional experience as assistant project manager in a shipbuilding company in Netherlands and Germany, I continued as a crew claims handler at a P&I correspondent (where, among other claims, I also handled the Bareli case) and as crewing and training officer in another Ship Management company.

Upon a job advertisement and interviews, I succeeded being part of Klaveness Ship Management in April 2013 as the Training and Development Coordinator (TDC), my activity being mainly based in Barklav office, Constanta, Romania. Since in Klaveness we believe that before being able to train and develop others you need to get trained and to be prepared for the upcoming challenges, I went through a thorough familiarization process in Oslo office where I had the opportunity to learn and understand the way KSM is working towards ‘’Improving the nature of shipping.’’

In June 2013, the continuation of my training journey got me to Manila, Philippines where I met my colleagues in KMA office, I attended the Man Power Development Program graduation of our deck/engine hands and I took part at the Crisis Management Seminar.

Next, I attended the Klaveness Management Training Program (KMTP) in Subic Bay along with colleagues from Oslo and Manila office and 8 senior officers, where we challenged established thinking in order to run ‘’safe & happy ships’’, an experience that I found to be enriching and helpful in getting a better understanding of the challenges faced onboard.

My second visit to Manila, in the fall, led me to the speaker/trainer role at the Junior officer’s, ratings and cadet seminar, where a series of topics were presented in order to ensure all our seafarers have a common understanding of Klaveness policies, procedures and future goals.

All these opportunities helped me knowing our business in detail, get better acquainted with the organization, colleagues, seafarers, external parties, training methods and ways of working together, expressing our concerns, addressing problems and seeking lasting solutions.

Looking forward to new challenges that may arise, knowing that anytime I may need support, in Klaveness and Barklav is always a friendly colleague willing to land you a hand or give you advice.

I started working in Barklav in October 2001 and during this time I have gained a lot of experience.

Since 1995, I am certified as “Expert Accountant” and member of CECCAR All the challenges helped me to improve my knowledge in accounting and a little bit on employee’s international tax matters.

It is motivating to be involved in such work environment and make me to be very proactive and dedicated.

I graduated Ovidius University Constanta in 2007 -International Transactions Section/ National College “Mircea cel Batran” back in 2003.

I joined Barklav in April 2008 after working for 2 years as crew coordinator assistant in InterOrient Maritime Ent/Ses, hoping to develop my skills in a crew manning company with future prospects-which I really did during these almost 10 years.

As part of our organization learning and growth strategy, in 2012, I have attended the “Shipping Industry Programme” course developed by WW Academy which later proved to be a support for my promotion as Sr. Crew Coordinator in 2014.

Working at Barklav with such a great team in a friendly environment makes it easier to accomplish tasks, overcoming daily challenges and strengthening the business for People concept which really suits my professional philosophy!

Started to be part of Barklav team since 2005 and appointed Crew Coordinator in 2006.

Prior joining Barklav, I accumulated more than 10 years’ experience in shipping and inspections of oil and chemical tankers, where I’ve held various positions in administration, accounting and logistic departments.

I’m holding a degree in Economic Science from University of Oil and Gas Ploiesti – Specialization: Finance, Accounting and Informatic.

Completed in 2004 the programme of Implementation and Maintenance of Quality Management System according to ISO 9001:2008 at Atlas Consulting.

Attended in 2004 the programme of Internal Auditor for Quality Management System at Constanta Maritime University.

Attended in 2008 the course of Shipping Industry Programme at WW Academy in Brugges.

Participated in 2010 at GEM Conference/Seminar in New Delhi regarding Safety & Security; Oil Major Vetting, Quality and Environment, Somali Piracy Update.

I have graduated,, Mircea cel Batran” Naval Academy and after a long experience in the Romanian Coast Radio Station as Radio Operator I had the opportunity to join Barklav in April 2014.

From the first day I stepped into the office I was impressed to find an enthusiastic and professional team easy to work with, which truly values people and genuinely cares about each other personally.

Over these years I have learnt that excellence is not just a word and moreover it is not just luck: it’s hard work, perseverance, trust and commitment.

Barklav is a visionary company, that is constantly coming up with new ideas and initiatives, there is joy in work and for me it is a challenge to continuously renew myself, work smarter and improve my results.

Being part of this great team makes even the hardest days seem easy.

If we were to talk in marine terms about me, it would sound like this: graduate of Foreign Languages in 2001 (Sworn Translator license), I have started as „Cadet” in Barklav in 2006, continued as Junior (crewing assistant) Officer until 2008. In 2009, have attended the Shipping Industry Programme course held by WW Academy and this has helped become 10 years ago, a proud licensed Crew Coordinator.

It’s been a continuous voyage filled with lessons about the shipping industry, filled with changes and challenges that have helped all of us grow as a powerful team and always be able to adjust our work environment based on what future brings.

During these years, my entire focus was to make sure that my daily activity is in line with the company’s expectation and strategies, contributing to the organization main objective – “Long Term Sustainable Growth”.

The whole period has been filled with professional satisfaction, having in view that the Company offers a dynamic, innovative and human-oriented working environment.

I joined Barklav in May 2014. I have 8 years of accounting experience of which 4 years in Barklav and a total of 13 years in economics.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Management Information Systems.

I am Chartered Accountant member of CECCAR(IFAC).

I am responsible for the payrolls, taxes and invoicing the clients. This activity requires close coordination with customers, vessels and colleagues.

It is motivating to be involved in such activities that requires a knowledge of customers business and understanding their needs.

I enjoy working in such dynamic place, where we continue search for new ideas and digital solutions to satisfy our customers’ demands.

A normal working day at Barklav!
